Ask the MoB Hello to you MoBsters!

There is this strange Kolsch brewing guy (who will remain anonymous), on another (undisclosed) web site, who gave a rave review about this Sergeant Major IPA.

"All I can say is WOW!" "Mmmmmmmm ... I just had to restate that "wow". I've been enjoying this for almost a week now and loving every drop." Is how he put it.

Since i do not have access to this beer here in the Pacific Northwest, nor do i have the skill to clone anything -- naturally, i asked this veteran brewer for his thoughts about a clone, for this rave brew.

"It is beyond my abilities since as mentioned I'm not a big beer guy." "Ask on our club site"

So here i am, hat in hand and asking. Anyone want to take a shot at this?

regards/greg (PS: j/k A.M ;o)

First, you should check Scotch-Irish's web site. They are quite open and straightforward with their ingredients - http://www.scotchirish.on.ca/ipa.html and http://www.scotchirish.on.ca/ale.html

I brewed an IPA that was inspired by Dave Brockington's "Sister Star of the Sun" (1995 version). My "Little Cousin Star of the Sun" essentially has the bittering hops scaled back to 2/3rds, giving 65-ish IBUs, and the distinctive Chinook flavour. It is very, very similar to Sgt. Major's IPA -- compare the ingredients and you'll see why!

My recipe is here: http://www.bodensatz.com/sb/index.php?Mode=View&Recipe=6a26a860324e9c54b7153eb29389780e

If you really want to see the guts of the recipe, download Strangebrew http://www.strangebrew.ca/downloads , import my recipe http://www.bodensatz.com/dl/sb/index.php?file=6a26a860324e9c54b7153eb29389780e&name=Little_Cousin_Star_of_the_Sun , and play away to your heart's delight...
