I moved to Ottawa permamently about two months ago. Originally from BC but I have been living in Portland OR for the last long six years, although the beer made it alot easier. I have some brewing experience including all grain but my equipment (not that it was much) was left behind awhile ago. I was hoping to set up a little home-brewery in the apartment in Ottawa but it's a bit small and my dear wife is a little reluctunt to let this happen.

Cheers
Aaron

Ask the MoB Hey all, I've been homebrewing with kits for a while now and really hope to pick up some tips on brewing without them during the BSNBB. What I'm wondering is what we're doing for food, I cook for a living and was thinking of bringing a bbq, maybe a big crock for stew or something. If anyone needs a hand with feeding a bunch of beer enthusiasts, than give me a call. I also want to learn as much as possible and if anyone has any space for a team BB or anything, I'd be happy to help out, as all I have to bring is kit brewed beer.
Cheers,
Levi

I see Big Strange New Brunswick Brew 4 is coming up and I am interested in going, all I make so far for brews are from kits, is this a problem? I would like to move away from them soon, but all I will have in time will be a blackrock mexican lager.

Hey, this is awesome. I can't believe how many times I've looked up brewing information on the web and never stumbled upon this until I got sick of bottling and wanted kegging information.

Ask the MoB Hello MoB ! Ted Gulliver President & Dom Boulet Head Brewer at Draft Horse Brewery 3495 Trim Road Navan,ON. wish the membership to set up a tour of our 8 hl. brewery asap. WE invite the membership to ask Dom,a well known brewer in Canada about our 7 beers on tap & the brewing process. It is our intent to then go next door to a private residence to sample the memberships latest brews. We also want to discuss the reincarnation of the Ottawa Beer Fest for 2006 if we are not too late & for sure 2007.Thanks Ted & Dom

Hello everyone,

I could not believe it when I found this website. Eeeexcellent... Anyhow, I am a 26 year old Carleton U. student (until the end of the Summer). My wife and I live smack in the middle of Downtown Ottawa, and my brewing is very limited by the size of the apartment (that means just crappy kits for me!). At the moment I am working on the Brew House American Lager, which isn't really a lager because it's being bottle conditioned in our closet, right next to the shoes. My favourite beers include Solera from Cervecería Polar (Venezuela) and Berliner Kindl (in the "Grüne Weisse" style, Germany). Also count in Belle-Vue Kriek and DAB, which is what is available at the damn LCBO. But nothing beats a Schneider Weisse.

Aye, I am a sucker for wheat beer.

Cheers,

Arminius

Outage

The MoB website suffered an outage from April 4 to April 7 due to a crashed harddrive. Unfortunately, the backup system was not working correctly for the past few months so any submissions since November 2005 have been lost.

If you contributed an article or comment since November you may be able to recover it using Google's cache service. You can do this by entering a search in google of the form "site:barleyment.wort.ca keywords" and clicking on the "cached" link under the appropriate search result.

Note that the data loss applies only to submitted articles, comments, CO-OP orders, and et cetera but images and other uploaded files were recovered.
